Election

Personal Project (Board Game)

Election was a long-standing project which grew and changed over the years. Originally concieved as a monopoly-style game of chance, it has evolved in an epic strategy game. Election is a serious strategy game emulating the mechanics of a United States Presidential Election.

The 2-6 players take turns moving their primary tokens around the Campaign Trail, which offers luck-based events such as campaign contributions, debates, and party conventions. Players also have an opportunity to move their secondary token to campaign strategically on the Election Map, where they may spend their campaign funds on various advertising campaigns. Additionally, at the beginning of play, players may select one of eight unique advantages such as Incumbent, Media Personality, or Grass-roots support.

A large amount of attention has been placed on this game's balance. Optimal gameplay strategy changes as the number of players increases, and historically there have been significant strategic bennefits to being the last player to play. This last flaw has been addressed using several different strategies, resulting in highly improved gameplay.

This game was one of several board games that I have developed over the years.
