Game Modification - Robo Rally
Personal Project (Board Game)
Our work team adopted Avalon Hill's Robo Rally as a lunch time activity. Over time, we modified and augmented the game into very nearly a completely different game.
While many of these modifications were collaborated on by our team, I eventually became the Dungeon Master and cheif motivation behind new innovations.
We found the original system of Battle Royale to be unmotivating. A few players would quickly gain the lead, and a few players would fall hopelessly behind. Since we played one turn a day, and a game might last for 3 or 4 weeks, it was unacceptable to have such an imbalance for so long. We created a variety of team games, including Capture the Flag, Angsty Angsty Androids (Hungry Hungry Hippos), and a few others.
We also added a ball-throwing mechanism, modified the movement cards, and added approximately 200 new special Power cards, each of which can vastly change the gameplay. We created new board layouts, of which I was the primary developer, and new game board elements.
